Art DVDs

We are re-releasing the original Still life and Portrait DVDs as well as releasing a new one. The new one will be a dynamic production featuring Blind Justice and other large figurative oils I've done. Many close ups and in progress shots. This DVD will discuss stretching methods used for large linen pieces including sealing the backside of the linen. It will be just over two hours in length and in high definition.

Opus Magnum props

antiques and a new sword
I am beginning to build me stage set for this large work. This weekend I found many items I needed for this to happen as I scoured the land's antique stores.

I'll post shots along the way as this progresses as well as record the process on video.

Danielle dans le Hall

This work flowed like water. One the second day (I could only paint 90 minutes at a time due to the changing light) I paid one of the roaming historic figure (models) at San Juan Capistrano to stand  just there for me. Some of the world's finest painters-members of the California Art Club who had invited me to join them, watched much of this work being created.

San Gimignano Evening

I've been to this famous little town numerous times and stayed so long as to recognize the locals amid the hundreds of tourists. I can yet smell the wild boar cooking.

Five years ago my son and rented a room from a older fellow who did not speak one word of any language but Italian. Setting the rental terms stressed my poor speaking skills. Our room overlooked a Roman spring. Trey and I would sit on the ancient steps of the Piazza and drink good cheap local wine and watch the warm chatter of locals after all tourists had departed on buses. No horns, no cars, just peaceful international banter. An extremely talented violin player who looked just like Russell Crowe visited with us between songs till midnight. He was Russian and knew his Tchaikovsky.
